Greeting Songs and Body Awareness

A child’s name is his/her identity. To greet a child by calling him/her name is a pleasing greeting and an affirmation of the child’s personhood. Singing each name identifies, calls attention to the child and acknowledges their presence in the beauty of a musical setting. 

Naming, touching, and moving the parts of the body put the child in touch with the whole body, its sensations and how it feels.
