Musikgarten offers comprehensive curricula for children from birth to age nine. Based on meeting the developmental needs of children as they grow, we provide teachers with a consistent and thoughtful music-learning plan for the first nine years of a child’s development.

Throughout the curriculum, favorite songs, stories and dances are revisited – building on what the child has learned and enjoyed, which appeals to students, teachers and parents.

Family Music
For Babies

Bonds the child and parent/caregiver. Introduces playful musical activities. .

Family Music
For Toddlers

Once babies start walking, everything changes.
- Children explore and experiment with the world of sound more on their own.
- These “learners in constant motion” get to sing, chant, move, dance, listen and play simple instruments.
Stimulates musical interaction between child and parent.

- Channels toddler’s energy productively.
- Facilitates expression of feelings.
- Assists memory through repetition.
- Develops further musical aptitude and focused listening.

The Cycle of
Seasons

Musical celebration of the four seasons.
- Activities build on the child’s growing independence and competencies.
Nurtures three year olds’ ability to use language.
- Capitalizes on the child’s delight in dramatic play within the musical context.
Lessons include: songs, movement activities, exploration of instruments and imaginative stories for children to make their own.

- Enhances moving, singing and talking skills.

- Lays foundation for creative development via story-telling and play-dance response to poetry

Musikgarten’s All Together Now recaptures the magic of nursery rhymes (a wonderful part of our cultural tradition featuring delightful language and playful rhythms) in a versatile mixed-age curricula for children birth to four. There is lots of movement for those toddlers, while three year-olds and older will learn language skills and use their imaginations in fun new ways.

Each program is full of music, movement, imagination, and class time fun. The unique Music for Movement compositions on the CDs will enable children to explore walking and jumping (Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jump over the candlestick), twisting and turning (Oliver Twist, you can’t do this!) and many more concepts which are just right for your toddler movers and shakers! Both children and parents will find that after just one class, they’ll look forward to many more!

Parents will receive a family packet with CD, parent book and either an instrument or manipulative.

the World

Part 1 of a sequential two-year program to give child solid music making foundation.
- Training the ear.
- Coordinating body and voice.

- Expands listening capabilities through introduction of orchestral instruments.
- Builds self-discipline and social skills through ensemble development.
- Promotes independent and group involvement.
- Builds skills that impact all academic learning.

Music Makers:
Around the World

Part 2 of a sequential two-year program.
- Singing, ear training, playing instruments, ensemble work and creative movement.
- Children explore the music of other cultures: Amerindian, African-American, British and German.
- More focus on writing and reading music.

- Enhances cultural awareness.
- Advances listening, voice and body movement, as well as music literacy.
- Accentuates symbolic thinking, concentration, memory and self-expression.

Music Makers:
At the Keyboard
Year 1

Introductory method for groups of young beginners.
- Features a variety of activities which lay the foundation for success at the keyboard.
- Builds on songs children have come to love.
- Aural approach to music literacy provides a natural pathway to reading.
- Approaches music reading both aurally and visually.
- Lays groundwork for keyboard success.
- Fosters excitement and pride in making music both independently and with others.
- Maintains holistic approach to music learning.

At the Keyboard
Year 2

Part 2 of the keyboard program.
- Introduces much-loved piano repertoire.
- Develops comprehensive musicianship at the keyboard.
- Enhances musicianship.
- Refines body control and ear tuning.
- Continues to build foundation for life-long instrument playing.

An outdoor exploration of the living world of nature.
- Uses tools for exploration to enhance sensorial learning.
- Sing, move and make music with instruments in a natural setting.

- Highlights nature’s wonders and delights.
- Showcases the unique music of nature and lively forms in all animal and plant life.

God's Children Sing
Addresses the spiritual aspects of the young child’s life in the Judeo-Christian tradition.
- Focuses on the experience of those closest to them, such as family, friends and nature.
- Stories from the Bible are accompanied by appropriate prayers, songs and rituals.
- Enhances moral concepts in daily life.

- Benefits as in Family Music for Toddlers. and The Cycle of Seasons.
- Helps direct energy to expression of feelings.
- Religious tenets learned early in a joyful manner.
